“Over the years it’s been said a hundred different ways but the general thought is that ‘a property’s ability to produce income is driven by its local fundamentals, but the flows of global capital drive how we set a property’s value’.


Anyone can find exceptions or details to argue over with that statement, but I think we would all agree we are clearly in a real estate environment that is affected daily by what happens around the world.

One of the articles included today is a short whitepaper by Cassidy Turley about the impact of Japan’s earthquake on the U.S. economy and commercial real estate.  My take away was that even though the catastrophic event was a half a world away, it likely will have long-term effects on a number of different economic factors that will filter into our commercial real estate world.  Read it here and see what you think.
